Giving Away Your Life

We moved from Texas to Georgia almost twelve years ago when I was three. Since then, we’ve all made tons of great friends and have truly settled in Georgia. That’s why it surprised me so much when my parents announced that we were moving back to Texas. I was shocked!
Since that announcement a few months ago, I’ve gotten a little more used to the idea. But I know that – other then being really sad about leaving all my bffs in Georgia - I’m kinda freaking out about everything changing. New house, new school, new church, new neighborhood, and new friends. (Not that they’re replacing the old ones!) It’s going to be tough moving halfway across the country to a totally new environment. Not only that, but I’m going into high school which is another big adjustment. I wouldn’t say that I’m shy, but I do find it difficult to meet new people – especially if I’m the new one! Wondering what I was going to do, I looked in my bible for answers. I immediately found Proverbs 3: 5 and 6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” I’ve read this verse several times, but this time it really hit me. Trust God…acknowledge Him…He will make your paths straight. I also found John 14:1 a : “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God.” Well, I won’t say that I’m not still slightly freaking out, but I do know now to just truth Him. After all, He’s the only one who can see the big picture. He knows why He’s bringing my family back to Texas. He knows why everything is changing. He has a purpose for me! (Jeremiah 29: 11) I may not know it yet, but I don’t need to. Seeing as only He knows, I think I’ll let Him control my life. I’m not going to try and take over when I can’t see where this whole thing is going. But I do hope that He will let me do something BIG for Him – which is a pretty BIG commitment. Just think of where He could take me! I want to encourage you to let God control your life. This is not a part-time commitment – this is everything. Your pretty much saying, “God, you have my life. Do what you want with it – I’m willing to go anywhere for you.” But you better mean it! He wants your life – not a bit of your time. He will take you on ADVENTURES! It’s a big step, but it will be worth it. Think of how much trust you’re establishing by giving God your whole life! So come on, and give your life to Jesus!
