Corrie ten Boom: Serving the Least

How far are you willing to go for the least? Are you willing to help them? Serve them? How about…be them? Allow me to explain:
During the Nazi invasion, Corrie ten Boom risked her life to help the Jews. Though not a Jew herself, her and her family opened their home to protect those that were persecuted. Because of this, her whole life-style was changed. Knowing full well the dangers and risks of helping the Jews, the ten Booms could never refuse a person in need.
After discovering the ten Booms secret, the Germans invaded the house, taking Corrie and her family to a concentration camp, while the Jews escaped unharmed. After years of enduring terrible treatment from the Germans, Corrie ten Boom was finally set free. Half of her family died in those concentration camps.
Corrie learned how to, not only serve the least, but to be the least. She wasn’t a Jew. She could have gone on with her life, had she not helped them. At one point, the Germans were willing to let her father - who was 90 - go free if he promised to never help the Jews again. His response was this: “If I go home today, then tomorrow I will open my door to whoever is in need.” And so they took him away to the concentration camps where he later died.
He didn’t have to die. He wasn’t a Jew. But he was willing to become one of them to help. He was willing to be the least.
How about you? Would you be willing to do that - become the least to serve? Think of examples in your life where you could do that. Talking to the geek at school. Helping in embarrassing situations. Serving. BEING.
